Ministers Message
It’s always such a privilege to work with people who share a passion for sport and the community.
The team behind Volleyslam have brought the energy, passion and excitement of this great sport back to the beaches of Coolangatta.
In my view, Cooly is the spiritual home of beach volleyball. In 2018, the sport featured for the first time in Commonwealth Games history as elite athletes battled it out for gold at Coolangatta.
History was made on our shores and the fantastic tradition continues with this 10-day festival.
I acknowledge our team at Major Events Gold Coast who have partnered with Volleyball Australia to organise the 2023 festival.
With four separate events to be held across the festival, we can expect some fierce competition as teams strive to take home a championship trophy.
It’s showtime and it’s free for spectators so don’t miss a minute of the action. And when the festival is over, please stay a little longer and explore everything on offer in Australia’s favourite playground.
See you there.

The Hon. Stirling Hinchliffe MP
Welcome to 2023 Volleyslam Gold Coast, a highlight on the It’s Live in Queensland events calendar and a wonderful opportunity to showcase Gold Coast as a tourism destination.
The Coolangatta community is grateful to welcome visitors who fill their cafes and restaurants, stay in their accommodation, use local transport and explore our unique tourism experiences.
That’s why we support events through Tourism and Events Queensland’s Destination Events Program because they bring a welcomed boost to the local community and supports local jobs.
Events like the Volleyslam allows friends and family to reconnect and creates community pride. We hope you enjoy your stay and return again in the near future.
Be sure to immerse yourself in the local culture and get the opportunity to explore some of our world-class tourism experiences in this beautiful region.
Congratulations to the event organisers and volunteers – we wish you all the best for a successful event.
